In 2014, the government introduced a range of reforms relating to children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). This places a responsibility on the “local area” to identify the needs of children and young people with
SEND and to put the right things in place to meet their needs.
We want to ensure that you have the chance to tell us about the progress your child is making. We want to know what is working well for your child and what could be improved. This will help us to make plans for the future. Your views from this survey will be grouped together with those of other parents/carers in a report and used by our local area strategic planning group for SEND. Your views are vital to help us shape our services to you and your family. We will be sharing our
future plans with the Northumberland parent/carer forum In It Together and they will have a voice in setting our priorities. The link for the survey is here To read the document from NCC responding to the consultation exercise that was carried out please click the PDF file linked here .

We have been asked by Northumberland County Council to share the questionnaire below with our members who live or whose children attend school in Northumberland. This questionnaire is for all those with any identified SEND not just those with EHCP's. There are over 6000 pupils with SEND in Northumberland so it would be great to get a high number of responses.
This is a really good opportunity to feedback to the LA what is working well and what could be improved. Why are we seeking your views?
The “local area” includes the local authority, nurseries, schools, colleges, health providers, social care teams and all those who are involved in working with children and young people in Northumberland. What will we do with the results of this survey?
